Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fan Makes Neat Wooden Switch Case for the Game

A The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fan creates an impressive carved wooden case that is a perfect fit for the game's Switch cartridge.

A fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom shows off an impressive wooden case they made for the game. The wooden box features a large engraving on the front and makes for a unique and creative way to store their Switch cartridges.

Nintendo released its latest The Legend of Zelda game in May to widespread acclaim from critics and players alike. Many of these fans decide to express their passion in creative ways, such as the adorable crochet Tears of the Kingdom doll one fan shared last week. Other players have found more unusual but equally crafty ways of showing their appreciation.

Reddit user FrigginBoomT is another example of a passionate Tears of the Kingdom fan. They combined that passion with their wood carving abilities to produce a unique wooden Switch cartridge case. The front cover features a beautiful engraving of the Hyrule Royal Crest, which incorporates the iconic Triforce while also being important to the series on its own. Opening the lid reveals two spaces for Nintendo Switch game cartridges. The cover and interior are both marked with simulated wear and tears, which fits with the post-post-apocalyptic version of Hyrule depicted in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Unsurprisingly, this is not FrigginBoomT's first woodworking project. It is not even the first case they've made for Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, sharing another design a few months ago. The case itself has a similar overall design, but its front cover depicts the rusty Master Sword and partly overgrown letter Z from the Breath of the Wild logo. They have also made boxes for Pokemon and Magic the Gathering cards.

Like the game that inspired it, FrigginBoomT's latest project received an overwhelmingly positive reception from The Legend of Zelda fans. As of this writing, the most upvoted comment was a joke suggesting that the case would be a good hiding place for one of Tears of the Kingdom’s Koroks, the mischievous forest spirits that became infamous among Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom players for how hard they are to find.

Another commenter mentioned how the box's empty second compartment could symbolize the hope for another sequel. Direct sequels are uncommon in The Legend of Zelda, though rare doesn't mean impossible. Either way, if Tears of the Kingdom does get a sequel, FrigginBoomT certainly has a great place to store it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
